Reimagining the Workflow
Adding an assistant to an existing process is the obvious move and often the least valuable one. The process was designed for a world where reading, drafting, summarising, and classifying were expensive human labour. When those become cheap, available on demand, and integrated with software, the process itself may deserve a redesign: fewer handoffs, decisions made earlier, information gathered once instead of repeatedly.
Start from the outcome the process exists to deliver and ask what it would look like if intelligence were a component you could place anywhere. Then compare with what you have. The gap is the opportunity, and it is usually larger than any single assistant can close.
Exercise
Do it yourselfMap a process end to end. Redraw it assuming reading and drafting cost nothing. Count the steps that disappeared.
Big question
Which of your processes exist only because thinking used to be scarce?
